Your appointment begins with a consultation to understand your hair type, face shape, lifestyle, and how much daily styling you're comfortable with. The stylist will clarify terms like fade, taper, square neckline, or rounded finish so the chosen style is realistic and appropriate for you.

The cut itself typically combines:

• Scissors-over-comb and clipper work on the back and sides to create clean shape and graduation
• Scissor cutting and texturising on the top to add movement, balance, and dimension tailored to your head shape and hair density
• Detailed neckline finishing—tapered, square, rounded, or softly faded—to suit the overall silhouette and how you want the cut to grow out
• Refinement of sideburns, around the ears, and the nape for symmetrical, clean contours

The finish involves blow-drying and applying suitable styling products—creams, waxes, pomades, or clays—to define the cut and highlight its texture, giving you a smooth, natural result.

Choosing the Right Neckline and Style

The neckline finish plays a key role in the overall look. A tapered or faded neckline gradually shortens the hair towards your natural hairline, following the growth pattern for a soft finish that grows out cleanly. A square neckline creates a clear, straight line that makes slim necks appear fuller and is a widely used classic finish. Maintaining Your Cut at Home

Your stylist will show you at least one simple way to recreate the finish at home, including how much product to use and where to place it. Work product from the back and roots forward, using small amounts to avoid weighing the hair down.

Aftercare tips:

• Use shampoo and conditioner suited to your hair type
• Avoid excessive washing, which can dry the scalp and make styling harder
• Book regular maintenance visits every 3–4 weeks to keep shorter styles, fades, and sharp outlines looking defined
• Softer, classic cuts can go slightly longer between visits, but leaving it too long causes the neckline to look untidy and the shape to lose structure

If you're restyling from a very different shape—long to short, or removing an old undercut—expect more detailed sectioning and texturising work to rebalance the head shape and create your new look.
