What the Service Involves

Your appointment begins with a consultation to match your current colour and assess your regrowth. Your stylist will then:

• Section your hair into neat quadrants to expose the roots and ensure precise application
• Mix a bespoke colour formula—permanent or demi-permanent—tailored to your grey coverage needs and desired result
• Apply colour directly to the roots using a tint brush, taking care to target only the new growth along your parting, hairline, and through each section
• Process the colour for around 20–35 minutes, depending on the formula and coverage required
• Rinse, shampoo, and condition with colour-safe products to seal the cuticle and enhance shine
• Blow-dry and style so you can see how beautifully your roots blend with the rest of your hair

The entire appointment typically takes 45–90 minutes, depending on your hair's length, thickness, and any additional services like toners or treatments.

Root regrowth is ideal if you have an existing professional colour and want to maintain or subtly refine it rather than change it dramatically. It's particularly beneficial for clients with:

• Visible grey regrowth that needs consistent coverage
• Strong contrast between natural roots and coloured lengths (dark roots under blonde, or extensive greying)
• Prominent partings or hairlines where roots are easily noticed

By targeting only new growth, the service reduces chemical exposure to your mid-lengths and ends compared with frequent full-head colouring, helping protect your hair's integrity over time. If you want a dramatic colour change or have complex colour history (multiple box dyes, previous bleaching, or banding), you may need full-head colour or corrective work instead.

What to Expect and Aftercare

Your roots will be evenly covered and closely matched to your existing colour, with no visible line of demarcation. Grey hairs are camouflaged or fully covered, and your overall shade stays balanced without colour build-up through the lengths. Results typically stay fresh for 4–6 weeks before new regrowth becomes noticeable—though this varies based on your hair's growth rate and the contrast between your natural and coloured shades.

To keep your colour looking its best:

• Use colour-safe shampoos and conditioners and rinse with cool or lukewarm water
• Apply regular conditioning treatments to maintain softness and shine
• Minimise heat styling or always use heat protection to reduce dryness and fading
• Schedule your next root touch-up for around 4–6 weeks if you prefer a consistently polished look, or stretch to 6–8 weeks if your regrowth is slower or less contrasting
